What caught my attention in week twenty-seven, 2023
In continuation to week twenty-six, here are a few thoughts and things that caught my attention in week twenty-seven, 2023:
🔥 This week I was shocked to see how the farmer's entire grain crop burned down within minutes in a field adjacent to my workplace.
🩸 The extreme heat for our latitudes was probably also the reason for the fire. I have nevertheless cycled three times a medium tour together with my wife and have helped on two days of the weekend on the place of our dog club to weed and make clear. It was very sweaty and I got countless bloody scrapes from it, but in the end everyone was happy about what was done.
🚴 This week I cycled 164 km and walked 73 km, including 20 km with the dog.
🤘 The Club is still growing - it still makes me smile.
📝 As mentioned before, I have recently begun writing daily notes in Obsidian, in addition to using it as my personal knowledge management (PKM) tool.1 Furthermore, I have started to explore the fundamental concept of BASB (Building a Second Brain). For my primary inbox, I rely on Drafts on macOS, iOS, and extensively on watchOS while walking our dog. Another crucial service in this context is Readwise Reader.
With podcasts, there was a significant amount of information that I would listen to, but until now, I...

In continuation to week twenty-five, here are a few thoughts and things that caught my attention in week twenty-six, 2023:
🎸 At the beginning of the week I was with my wife in Mannheim (Germany) at a concert of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I had given the tickets to my wife for her birthday. Neither of us are fanatical fans, but the band has certainly been with us for over thirty years. I thought it would be one of the rare opportunities to see them live, and it was the only concert in Germany for this tour. Neither of us had been to such a big open-air concert of a single band before. It was quite impressive, even though I would say that we both still prefer smaller concerts. It was also nice that, among several thousand people, we met two friends at the entrance who we didn't know would be there. The next surprise was that Iggy Pop was on stage as the opening act. Really impressive what he still does on stage at his age. The journey home was very chaotic thanks to Deutsche Bahn. We ended up stranded in Frankfurt at 1 a.m. because of a delayed train and then had to take a cab 70 km home (not cheap!). Getting up early the next day with the kids and going to work was then less fun, but also...

In continuation to week twenty-four, here are a few thoughts and things that caught my attention in week twenty-five, 2023:
🤘 I had fun setting up the ACAC, the Andy CarolanAvatar Club. It all started with a phrase in my last week notes: I've finally joined the Andy Carolan Avatar Club.Habib picked it up and stated the actually obvious: ACAC is quite a cool name for a club 🤣
So I couldn't help but set up a little site and add some nice people with an Mastodon profile pic created by Andy. It's just a markdown table on a Github page so far, but the whole process was very new to me and I learned a lot of new things and made at least one person smile. I think there are worse things you could do 😄. Now, I just have to learn CSS I guess 🤷♂️.
🍸 Some neighbors in our street had the idea to organize a small summer party. In the end, a surprising number of families simply put tables, chairs and a couple of grills in the middle of the streets (it's a "play street"2 through which usually only residents drive anyway) and we had a very nice chat in the best weather and...
